Andy is excited about his role as the Minister of Missions and Faith Development. These are not two separate responsibilities. Andy likes to consider them two sides of the same coin. As one grows in her or his faith she or he will have the desire to do Mission work. Additionally, the more Mission work one does the deeper their faith becomes. First Baptist has a history of Missions locally and Internationally. Andy looks forward to expanding our reach around the world as we use Acts 1:8 a model. “And you shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” First Baptist reaches out to our Jerusalem (Augusta and the CSRA), our Judea (statewide missions), our Samaria (US missions), and to the ends of the earth through various mission opportunities. FBC is also working to expand the Faith Development aspect by introducing small groups and expanded Bible Study offerings.
Andy is a tried and true Georgia Bulldog having been born and raised in the shadows of Sanford Stadium in Athens, GA. Upon graduation from Cedar Shoals High School Andy traveled south to Georgia College & State University. At GC&SU he studied business and graduated in 2000 with a BBA in General Business. He then completed his Masters of Divinity at the Jim and Carolyn McAfee School of Theology at Mercer in Atlanta in the fall of 2004. Andy has worked at several churches in Georgia since graduating from college.
Andy’s hobbies include anything sports related. He loves to play volleyball, softball, ultimate Frisbee, Frisbee golf, Ping-Pong (oops, I mean Table Tennis), racquetball, and golf. Along with all of that he finds time to read on occasion. He is very happily married to his beautiful bride, Becca. The two of them enjoy cruising, traveling, and spending time with family. They have two daughters and one on the way.
