Each week FBC ministers to members of the international community who live in our area through the following programs:

Chinese Sunday School

Around 1885 many Chinese came to Augusta to work on the canal. During that time Mrs. Jordan and Mrs. A. Smith Irvine drove an old horse around to the Chinese stores inviting the men to meet on Sunday afternoon for Bible Study. Only one Chinese came that first Sunday, Chung Yung. He was later converted and remained a faithful member until death. For over 111 years, the Chinese Sunday School has provided Bible study to the Chinese community. This English-speaking Sunday School meets every Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

English as a Second Language

This mission has been in existence for 30 years and has taught thousands of international visitors to our community to read and speak English. Prospective teachers are trained. Classes are offered from beginning English through college prep and TOEFL prep. Teachers, hostesses for refreshments, and prayer partners are needed for morning or night classes.

Hispanic Sunday School

Under the leadership of Pastor Damans Perez, this Sunday School class provides Bible Study for the Hispanic community on Sunday afternoon and Tuesday evenings.

Vietnamese Church

For ten years the Vietnamese people have gathered for Bible study at 9:40 AM while their children attend our regular Sunday School program. Under the guidance of the North American Mission Board, Linh Luong leads the Vietnamese in Bible Study followed by worship in their language. They celebrate Vietnamese holidays, share native foods and use Vietnamese hymnals and Bibles.
